Mesa County Project

Spectra, a leader in smart infrastructure and technology solutions, has completed a major physical security upgrade for Mesa County Valley School District 51, one of the largest school districts in western Colorado.

The comprehensive project strengthens school safety at over 40 locations by centralizing surveillance and access control through a unified, cloud-based system. In partnership with Verkada, a leading provider of cloud-based security solutions, this deployment improves perimeter security, streamlines entry procedures, and provides district leaders with real-time data on building access and camera activity.

“Student safety and staff safety are a top priority in the district,” said Clint Garcia, Mesa County Valley School District 51 Chief Operating Officer. “We’re always looking at better ways to improve that. We were looking for a reliable partner, somebody with expertise in safety and security. Somebody that we knew we could work collaboratively with, and we found that through working with Spectra.”

With this upgrade, District 51 no longer depends on a patchwork of outdated systems. Instead, administrators now have access to integrated video surveillance, door control, and intelligent alerts that help them proactively manage security across the district’s facilities.

Verkada initiated the partnership directly and selected Spectra for the project based on its experience in the education and public safety sectors and project management capabilities.

“At Verkada, we can build the absolute best technology solutions that there are in the physical security space,” said Anthony Magliocchino, Verkada Account Executive for Education. “But the end result is nothing without the service and implementation that our partners layer on top. A big reason we wanted Spectra to be a part of this project is because we know the quality of project management that Spectra delivers across the board.”

“We’re proud to have partnered with District 51 on a project of this scale and significance,” said Kirk Bostick, Spectra Vice President of Operations. “Spectra has worked with multiple school districts and higher education institutions to modernize campus security, and this project builds on that foundation. What makes it stand out is the level of collaboration, trust, and shared commitment to protecting students and staff. This is what we do best: make complex systems simple and deliver peace of mind through execution you can count on.”

This project reflects Spectra’s growing reputation as a strategic partner for education-focused security solutions. As school districts across the Rocky Mountain region seek scalable ways to enhance campus safety, Spectra continues to offer modern, responsive systems that prioritize simplicity and performance.
